Cassandra Purdon - Story Dogs Gallery
Cassandra Purdon has created several series of now iconic 'Story Dogs' - some of which are featured on this page.
She uses Dogs in her work as a metaphor for the human condition and how we are trapped by conventions and stereotypes and how we are continually losing our freedoms in today’s society. She has been strongly influenced by a recent trip to Central Australia to work alongside the world famous Hermannsburg Potters and this is clearly reflected in her work.
The human population of Ntaria (Hermannsburg) is approximately 650 while the dog population was reportedly around 600, fascinated by this, Cass used this to develop her concept.
